Throwback Jam: Craig Mack - Flava In Ya Ear ('94)

We at OnTheBlock are suckers for 90’s R&B and Hiphop. We grew up listening to the sounds of artists like 702Mary J. BligeR. KellyBrandy and Jodeci. Every Friday we take you on a trip down memory lane, with some of our favorite tunes of the golden era of R&B and Hiphop. This week’s throwback Jam: Craig Mack – Flava In Ya Ear.

Craig Mack gained fame on Puff Daddy‘s Bad Boy Entertainment record label in the early 90s. Although his first single was released under the name MC EZ in 1988, he is best known for Flava In Ya Ear, which was his first single released under his real name. The legendary remix (which was the breakout appearance of The Notorious B.I.G., as well as one of the first solo appearances by Busta Rhymes) followed soon. It featured performances by labelmate The Notorious B.I.G.RampageLL Cool J and Busta Rhymes. It also contains Puff Daddy as a promoter and brief appearances by Keisha Epps. The video features guest appearances by Das EFXMic Geronimo, and Irv Gotti though none perform on the song. The original song is widely regarded as a classic rap song.
